Irene Parlby, one of Canada's Famous Five, fought to get women recognized as persons under law. She also fought for financial independence for women as a Member of Legislature for Alberta's provincial legislature. She was the second female in the British Empire to be appointed as a minister and was instrumental in getting almost 20 laws passed that made lives better for women and children. Irene Parlby was also just one of three delegates appointed to represent Canada at the League of Nations in 1930.
